Selecting The Right Kitchen Stools

0
by Kim Pitt

Have you just recently bought a new house? Perhaps looking to decorate it? If you are, then chances are you would want to do a make-over for your kitchen. One of the great ways to do this is to have fantastic looking kitchen stools. I don't know about other people, but personally, nice-looking kitchen stools catch my attention.

It gives a whole new vibe to the kitchen so to speak. Plain and dull looking chairs will not evoke any feelings or emotions out of you. But with fresh and interesting designs, those same kitchen stools can actually perk up your mood and sets the tone for the day. Think about it, what is the one place you always go to in the morning? The kitchen! Wouldn't it make sense to have something visually appealing? Something that will invoke positive emotions in you? That would make your day better wouldn't it?

So what kind of kitchen stools should you get? Great question. The short answer to that is that it depends on 2 things - the present look of your kitchen and the ambiance you want to set for your kitchen. Now, obviously if you have just bought a new house, you can start from scratch and really design the kitchen to match the feel of your kitchen stools.

For a clean and sleek look, try the modern or contemporary style. Main colors are usually black or metallic. The designs give a clean look. For the Asian-lovers, there are the Chinese, Balinese, Japanese, etc styles to choose from. The Zen design is a favorite amongst many home makers. Color tones are black and the style is simple but elegant. Great for the minimalist at heart.

Another popular design is the bar-look. The kitchen stools for this concept art are those high-stool bars you see at clubs. They give a chill-out feeling and its fantastic for just hanging out when you are with your friends. You can double it up as a breakfast or dinner time stool " just like those trailer diners.

These are just a few designs you can choose from when buying kitchen stools. One more thing to remember - make sure the kitchen stools feel comfortable to sit on!

The Easiest Decorating Tool: Wall Clings

0
by Melissa Evans

Are you the type consumer that always has a little bit of difficulty to make up your mind when it comes to a purchasing decision? Perhaps you are putting off redecorating your child's room due to your inability to select a particular paint color. It is not easy to make a decision and it can be tough because you are not sure you will be happy with the end result when it is all finished. Additionally, you may not have experienced with the steps involved with wallpaper, stencils, or other additional processes. Because of this you may be stuck in the proverbial doldrums because risking disappointment is not a position you want to be in.

Or perhaps you are a consumer who redecorates a home constantly. No sooner than you finished painting and rearranging a room and move on to the next job even if you have already redecorated the same room last year. It might be because you have grown tired of the theme and opt to try some new with the room. Nothing remains the same for very long at your home and your family members can never get used to the various new looks of the room that you devise.

It hardly matters if you are the finicky type who is unable to make up your mind and present a commitment. It also does not make much of a difference if you are a fickle decorator that opts to change her mind from week after week. The best answer to this dilemma can be found in wall clings since they often yield the perfect decorating solution. Wall clings can be quite simple to place on a wall and are also easy to remove as well. Afterwards, if the arrangement is not what you wanted, you can always change things around. It matters not if the change is immediate since you can make any alterations whenever you opt to do so.

You can use wall clings to decorate a baby's room and quickly and easily change the decor when your child becomes a toddler, a preschooler, and then goes on to elementary school. By the time your child reaches puberty, you may have redesigned the decor with window clings a dozen times, but it won't matter. You'll still have stylish decor with minimal effort and expense because redesigning the room won't require repainting or hanging new wallpaper unless you want it to.

And when your child gets to the age where he or she wants to have input on your decorating choices, you can let him or her help without fear of disaster. Your son or daughter can help pick out the designs and even help put them on the walls, furniture, woodworking, doors, window frames, or any other solid surface your child wants to decorate.

Yes, decorating these days is far simpler with the introduction of wall clings in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, colors, and designs. They're a great way to stay on the cutting edge, keep up with current trends, and modernize with the least amount of exertion. Give them a try in your child's room and see if you aren't quickly sold on the benefits of wall cling decor.

Tips on How to Redesign the Bathroom

0
by John Whiteman

Bathrooms come in many alternative styles and designs depending on the current fashion, the designers styles and the amount of cash to spend on the room. Many people find that the small bathroom vanities are a good place to start. The tastes of the user will be the most important factor that will decide the styles of the room. When looking at a bathroom design, it is necessary to focus on the following advice to achieve the best results.

Allocation of space: There are a few areas needed to perform given activities whilst in the bathroom. These different areas should be fully considered when going through the design process. Some bathrooms may fail because you may find a shower unit smaller than the toilet area if they are located in the same open bathroom.

Location of the bathroom: A bathroom should not be too distant from the other bedrooms. Ideally the bathroom, main bedroom, and dressing area should be in close proximity to each other. An ideal solution to this problem, in the modern house is to install an en-suite bathroom.

Make the room comfortable to be in: The bathroom is an important place to give privacy and comfort. It is one of the most often used rooms in the house making comfort even more important. The comfort can be affected by factors such as type of flooring, soft furnishings and heating. These are all vital points in the design phase.

The bathroom should reflect your taste: As you have to use the bathroom every day, your own taste and preferences is especially important. Your own style and personality should be reflected in the design of the bathroom. For example, if you like loud colors then let that be reflected in your bathroom. If you are a smart person the first place to show that off is in your bathroom.

The fixtures and fittings must be compatible: The kind of things that you will put in your room must be matching. Matching your items, such as your bathroom vanity units is important in achieving a good look. To avoid any clash all the colors should be selected. Seeking the recommendation from an interior designer will avoid this. It is often important to reflect modern taste.

Planning a design for your bathroom should not be a one person thing, especially if the bathroom will have a number of users. It is advisable that you consult widely to get a number of ideas for your next project.

Chuck Rosenthal Paintings

0
by Penny Logan

Oil paintings and pastels of still lifes seem to dominate Chuck Rosenthal's work, but other subjects have also inspired him. He has done some brilliant work capturing people in everyday life, and some wonderful landscapes.

Do you ever wonder what the artist himself has to say about art? Conveniently Mr. Rosenthal has left us an "artist's statement."

Artists often write an "artist's statement" which is designed to let the viewer in on the thoughts the artist has about fine art. Mr. Rosenthal's artist's statement says:

"I believe that truly Fine Art encompasses every aspect of the visual experience, from dramatic, or at least, interesting placement of the elements in the painting to the truest atmospheric values within the capability of the artist. All of this is intended to create an impact on the viewer that is so real as to provoke an emotional response. Strong contrasts of form and lighting are an important component.

"Looking at the long view of the development of western art one would see that there is a progression of stiff, awkward drawing gradually developing, over time, into the most sophisticated and articulate forms imaginable.

"Fortunately, traditional values in art are undergoing a revival in our time and I am greatly pleased to be a part of it."

In 1963 Chuck Rosenthal set out to become a commercial artist. He studied at the National Academy of Design in New York City. He wanted to learn how to draw in order to do illustrations, but three months of study caused the idea of commercial art to go out the window and he decided to pursue fine art. Part of this decision was due to his teacher and mentor, Morton Roberts, who was an excellent illustrator and fine artist himself.

In his first year at the National Academy he was awarded a six-month scholarship to the Academy. Several years later he was awarded the Dr. Weller student prize at the Academy. In addition, though the efforts of Daniel Greene, one of his teachers, he was awarded a scholarship membership in the prestigious Salmagundi Club, America's oldest arts and letters club, and won an honorable mention in the 1968 scholarship membership competition.

As with many artists, Mr. Rosenthal continued to paint and learn, but due to family situations he was not able to dedicate full time to perusing a profession in fine art.

However, in recent years, since moving from New York to Clearwater, Florida, the goal of working as a fine artist has come to fruition. A pastel painting he did of a local landmark, the Clearwater Memorial Bridge, was purchased by a corporation and donated to the Clearwater City Hall. He's won several awards since 2000, in Clearwater Fine Arts shows, and his paintings of the bridge was included in an international juries competition.

Many of his paintings hang at Park Place Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri.

Outdoor Patio Furniture Comes In Many Styles

0
by Bart Chapman

The patio is an important part of your home. It is at the onset of your house and therefore, should be well designed and furnished. This is also very important particularly if you are fond of hosting outdoor events in your house, like picnics or family gatherings. Below are some tips for when you are getting outdoor patio furniture.

First, do some work to determine the manufacturer of the furniture. It may be a lot cheaper for you if you buy directly since there is no middleman or retailer involved. However, one bit of an advantage with getting it from a retailer is that they are supposedly more likely to provide redress should you have any complaints.

Online shopping, no doubt, will provide you with a cheaper and more convenient alternative. It won't be as easy to get in touch with the manufacturer. Still, the more important thing to consider is the website's navigability, which will give a hint as to how easy or difficult it would be when it comes to following up or monitoring orders.

Some manufacturers will recommend outdoor patio furniture that made from cedar. Cedar has weather-resistant properties and is less prone to morphing or to cracking. The furniture is durable and retains its natural appearance.

Since cedar is lightweight, it is easy to work with. Even then, cedar is also a very strong type of wood. It is also said to have a very good thermal co-efficient, which means that even on a hot day, your patio furniture remains cool and, particularly for benches, pleasant to sit on.

Outdoor patio furniture that is crafted out of cedar wood is also resistant to fungus and bacteria. It also has natural oils that protect it from decay and rot and makes it last even as it is exposed to the elements.

This is just one tip to ensure that you have long-term patio furniture which, will need little maintenance. It is important to look after the upkeep of your furniture, however. For cedar-made furniture, there seems to be no need for finishing. Many furniture owners find that letting the furniture naturally age seems to be the ideal course.

There are some who may choose to use materials such as wood sealers or oils, for instance. These are more ideal since they help the wood to 'breathe'. Paint, on the other hand, should never be applied because it can potentially destroy the furniture when it mixes with the wood's oils once they are released.

Take Home Chef Curtis Stone Cooks In An RV

0
by George Ross

Take Home Chef is one of my favorite shows in TV. In this show, a tall good looking Curtis Stone comes up to a stranger, usually an attractive lady in her 20s or 30s in a grocery or a supermarket. The attractive chef then asks the woman if she might be cooking for someone that night. If she is, Curtis will then offer to help her create a fabulous dinner. He ends up convincing the woman to take him, a man she just meet to her house and use the chef's services.

On a particular episode, Curtis finds himself with a woman who does not own a house, but instead is living in a toy hauler. Curtis was delighted to try something new. After they were done with the grocery, they went straight to the lady's RV.

The next scenes were mind blowing to me. If i hadn't known from previous scenes that the lady was an RV dweller, I wouldn't have known that they were inside one. She had a few kids, and her husband who was at work at the time was living there too. They had a living room in there, and the kitchen was awesome. It looked like a real house! They had neighbors who were toy hauler dwellers too. It was like a compound full of RVs.

In the earlier days, the toy haulers were only used as a means of transporting big and heavy toys like ATVs or motorcycles. Watching the scenes from that episode, it seems that some families have taken the rig to a whole new level. With some additions to the original design, they have turned the RV into a beautiful modern mobile home.

There are advantages in living in a trailer. First, you don't have to worry about mortgages and taxes. You can also take your family on a vacation with you without any additional traveling expense worries.

Owning a trailer means having your family and friends around you if you want to. Imagine not only bringing your loved ones, but bringing all the comfort and ease of modern living anywhere you go because you can also bring your home along with you.

Imagine traveling to a different place but still living in the same living room, using the same quarters, enjoying all the amenities like sleeping quarters, bathroom, and kitchen. Its like going in a vacation without leaving home. The best thing for me is, you dont have to pack at all. You just hitch your vehicle to your trailer, and off you go.

The quality and style of living has changed quite a lot over the past century. The idea of living in a trailer has given a new meaning to modern living and leisure.

Garden Decor For Your Garden

0
by Claudia Straus

You do not need to go far when you wish to find a place where you can calm your tired senses. Your very own garden is the right place where the brightly colored flowers and plants would freely do the job of giving the relaxation that you need.

However, there is still another way where you can enhance the appearance of your garden. By adding garden dcor even in one corner of your garden, the place will definitely look more stunning and very much inviting.

A garden dcor functions more than a mere dcor. Most of them are designed to be useful as they exist in your little paradise. They can either create a melody or simple but splendid scenery in your garden. A wind chime for instance creates a soft piece of music as the wind blows. Hang it where it would look beautiful which is usually near your door and enjoy its very own created music.

You may want other people to feel pleased as they enter your very own garden so better welcome them. Let an address marker that usually carry the word "welcome" do that job for you. The simple message in this garden dcor is commonly attached in a gnome, fairy, or Cherubs statue or any design with a classical trend.

They say that some insects are your garden's friends. The butterflies, birds, bees and the like help your plants and flowers not only in pollination but they also make the plants healthy. Invite those insects by placing some of their favorite food and place them in a birdfeeder. You can place the food in a bowl or attached them in a wire, depending on the style of the birdfeeder.

To create a balance in your garden area, do not make one corner crowded with plants. Put some of them in other corners. A plant stand that is usually made of metal and are suitable to be placed in a corner will not only help you save some space in your garden but it will also make the place lovelier.

Of course a garden is also a resting place for you. If possible, you can place a hammock where you can relax as you feel the fresh air and observe the foliages that healthily grow. A hammock can be either good for one or two people and is likewise stylishly created.

For a more complete garden setting, include an outdoor or garden chair as garden dcor, as well as a garden thermometer if you want to. A garden won't be complete if you do not have at least one chair to sit on. As for thermometer that now comes in different styles, you can include this even as an optional but useful tool to have a fully equipped garden.

Television Buying

0
by Don Sharpe

Buying a TV requires some knowledge about the difference in TVs. There are literally hundreds of new types and brand names, different shapes, multiple sizes, and thousands of features and accessories to choose from. You should at least have a working knowledge of the difference in the basic functions before going off on a TV shopping adventure.

It helps if you have an idea about if you need S-video inputs or not. Also if you may want or need RCA jacks in front. What about a digital comb filter? And will any of these things influence the quality of my viewing a movie or sports event? Questions like this will indeed pop up when you start shopping for your TV. So it's best to be prepared with some knowledge about such things.

It's been a long time believed in this country that the bigger something is the better is must be. That doesn't always apply, especially in the field of electronics. And as far as your TV goes, it needs to fit the space you intend it for. Smaller ones have you squinting, and larger ones are a blur if they're not right for that room. You really need to fit the TV to the room when considering what size.

TV screens get measured from diagonal points of the screen, not top to bottom or side to side. Knowing this helps you to figure what size you will need for your particular viewing room. The flat-bottom TVs are very popular, but when buying one you need to take into consideration that they won't take up near as much space, say, as the old regular one you're replacing.

If you're going to shop for one that's at least forty inches or more, then give some consideration to buying a rear-projection CRT. These babies have been the favorite of home theaters for lots of years. They combine the screen with the projector type function for a very good picture.

A CRT is actually made up of 3 cathode ray tubes that combine the three basic colors of green, red, and blue. They project a great picture with a good level of black quality, and they really give you a good investment for your dollar. They have been and still are quite popular with consumers.

A few of the disadvantages of these giants are their heaviness and deepness, and the fact that they can't be watched under bright light. They're tough to maintain, and the have quite a slim angle of viewing. But they still deliver quality color viewing and have been used for years by countless thousands.

People everywhere love the concept of the flat panel TV. This is due to their convenience as well as the fact that they take up little space while giving you a large screen. It's a great stride in the area of technology. Whether you get one that's Plasma or LCD you're sure to be content with a flat panel TV.

Buying a TV can be overwhelming, unless you educate yourself a bit and learn about the basic differences in them. Remember this about the plasma TV. It has a higher resolution than the CRTs through the use of digital signals. But some of them can still fall short of displaying the total resolution of an HDTV. That's why they're called enhanced-definition rather than high definition. It pays to do a little research before you shop.

Closet Ideas For Kids

0
by Sue Packard

Most children hate cleaning their room and have closets that are a disaster. The closet becomes a place to throw clothes for these kids, rather than a place to store things. Any parent who wants to teach their children about taking care of things and keeping their room neat has a big challenge ahead of them.

Children usually dont care about their closets and if they had one that was interesting to them, they might show a desire to keep it cleaner. Kids love sports teams, famous athletes, movies, as well as movie stars and these can be used to make a themed closet for your child. If you design a closet around their favorite sports team or player, they will take much more interest in the closet and undoubtedly learn to use it.

You might also try some colorful lighting in your childs closet. Children love lights and the right kind of lights can enhance any room as well as any closet. If you take a look at all the trendy restaurants and nightclubs, you will see that much of the atmosphere that is created is done through lighting. Putting in some interesting lights in your childs closet will get their attention and make them want to open it. The right kind of fun lights will help your child become interested in their closet.

If your child is in a room with a walk in closet you have more options to make a fun space for them to store their things. If you have the money you could splurge for a custom closet that is build by a professional company. The custom closet business is big now and there are many companies that will come to your home and design something just for you. Having them design and install something fun for your child might be a bit expensive but it could be worth it to teach your kid about being neat and respecting their things.

Some children are naturally neat and others will always slobs when it comes to neatness. Most kids though, fall somewhere in between the two extremes and these are the kids that can be taught to respect their things and to take care of them. By making a closet that is a bit out of the ordinary, you will be adding a tool you can use to teach you child about picking up after themselves and putting things away where they belong.

Slave I Jango Fett Minifig

0
by Petre Williams

The LEGO Group has an extensive library of LEGO themes but far and away the most collectible is the Star Wars series. Many of the Star Wars branded LEGO sets are discontinued and one of those is the 7153 Slave I system that includes a LEGO Jango Fett mini figure. The popularity of the Jango character from the Clone Wars makes this set very collectible and thus pretty expensive to aqcuire compared to other Star Wars sets.

Bounty Hunter Starship Slave I

The most popular of the Slave I models that have been released by LEGO is the 7153 set. Originally we seen Boba Fett as the pilot in the original films for Star Wars. Boba Fett is known in these movies as the best bounty hunter ever.

The next time we see the Slave I starship is in the Attack of the Clones. This is the second prequel and is actually before the original appearance chronologically. In this appearance Jango Fett is the pilot if the Slave I and Boba Fett is only a child. Boba Fett is actually Jango Fett's clone and son.

The 7153 Slave I Set

The LEGO Group has actually released more than one version of the Slave I starship but there is only one that comes with a LEGO Jango Fett mini figure. This is the Star Wars Jango Fett's Slave I 7153 LEGO set. It is considered a rare LEGO set because it is discontinued and relatively hard to find.

There are only a couple of Star Wars LEGO mini figures included with the 7153 Slave I set. One is a child version of Boba Fett and the other is Jango Fett himself. The 7153 set is the only LEGO set to contain a Jango Fett mini figure adding to its demand. In the future this set should only become more desirable because of the Star Wars LEGO brand's increased popularity.

The Jango Fett minifig is very expensive for all of these reasons. Often times a Jango Fett minifig can go for as much as 30 bucks by itself. Thirty dollars for a small plastic mini figure is very high but worth it to many fans.

A great site to get your hands on the very popular Jango Fett's Slave I 7153 LEGO set is on eBay. If a buyer is saavy enough he can find a great deal for one of these sets or mini figures. Sellers may not always be aware of exactly what they have and so may sell a highly collectible LEGO set for a relatively cheap price.

Petre is a big fan of the LEGO Star Wars mini figures and in particular enjoys the LEGO Jango Fett mini figure.
