Bathroom Design For Your Home

0
by Tom Jupert

Your guest bathrooms are a direct reflection of who you are and you not only want to keep them clean but you also want them to look right. As an extension of the house, your bathrooms should be appropriately decorated and the their dcor should match that of the rest of the house.

The first thing a person sees when they enter a bathroom is the color of the walls. For this reason, you should put extra thought in deciding what colors are appropriate for the style of bathroom you want. If you use colors that are too dark, they will make the bathroom a gloomy place and make it harder for people to see what they are doing. Even if you have bright lights in your bathroom, very dark walls may still have a negative impact. For this reason, neutral colors and colors that have some brightness in them are probably the best choice.

The accessories you choose for your bathroom should mix with the rest of the room and fit in well. You have a sink, tub, shower curtains, and mirror that all need to fit together and look like they belong together. Some bathrooms also have a standing cabinet that should look like it is part of the bathroom. The colors you choose, the designs you choose, and the items you choose for your bathroom must all serve a purpose and work together to create an inviting room for your guests.

The shower curtain is also very important and if you dont pick the right style and color, it can have a big negative impact. Just like the walls, the shower curtain is one of the first things a person sees upon entering your bathroom. If it looks out of place with the wrong design or colors, your bathroom will look odd and not give the right impression.

There are many more options with shower curtains now than there used to be. No longer are they all a cheap plastic and you can spend a surprising amount of money on one if you want to. Picking the right curtain means picking one that blends in with the bathroom dcor and not one that stands on its own or overpowers the rest of the room. You can have ones made of different materials and all sorts of patterns, colors, and even shapes. If you take the time to pick out your bathroom shower curtains carefully, you will find they make a good addition to the room and they help complete design and mood you are going for rather than hinder it.

How To Decorate Your Home With Candles

0
by Candace Dogood

Take a tour of your neighbor's house sometime and notice if they have candles sitting out. Anytime you see a candle prominently displayed, your first thought is that it is there if the house loses electricity. But candles nowadays can be used for so much more than just a mere utilitarian purpose like loss of light. They can be used to spice up your home decor and make your house smell warm and inviting.

In order to understand how candles are used in everyday decor, it is helpful to understand the types of candles that are available. Candles come in many shapes and sizes. There are votive candles, tealight candles, tapered candles and last but not least, the pillar candles. In addition to the different shapes, candles come in pretty much every color combination you can imagine.

If you are throwing a nautical themed party, how fun would it be that your candles included seashells inside the candle. Many candles are created with objects such as beads, leaves and shells in order to provide a an aesthetic enhancement to the party. Another thing that enhances the presence of a burning candle is the scent that is ingrained into the candle itself.

These scents also may be a result of the objects placed in them. A candle that has an orange rind placed in it may emit a sweet orange smell. Flowers such as lavender may enable the candle to produce a fantastic flowery aroma.

What you should also consider with your candles is how you will display them and in which room they will go. This is no small consideration as the answers to those questions will determine the types of candles needed.

You may decide the perfect place for your candle is on the top of a table. If this is the place you want your candle to go, you will then need to buy an accessory such as a candelabra, candle plate or other type of candle holder. However, if you plan to mount it on a wall, then you will want to purchase a candle lantern to help support it.

Candle lanterns and holders can be made from any material that is durable. Metal, glass and wood are typical materials that are used. These lanterns and holders are available in all manner of designs. It is these unique designs that will enable you to find one to fit your style.

The possibilities for placing the wall candle lantern are endless. They could go on either side of a family portrait. Or they could light up dark hallways or frame a valuable piece of art. Just use them to focus the eye onto the object you want to highlight and you cannot go wrong.

When you are searching for areas in your home for your candles, you will find tons of places and options. As you go through the winnowing process you will establish which types of candles and candle accessories you will need.

More and more people are turning off their lights and lighting their homes with candles in order to return to a time gone by. If its a throw back evening to the time before electricity or simply a bubble bath after a long day, candles are your source for that comfort.

Green Homes and Eco-Friendly Dwellings

0
by Amy Nutt

Protecting the environment has become a lot more important as we are starting to see the damage that pollutants are doing to it. Green homes are a great way to not only save the planet but also to save you money. There are many different adjustments that can be made to turn a home green and many of them don't cost a lot of money. Those that do may qualify you as a buyer to get a tax credit for drafting and making your home more eco-friendly. So how what changes can you make to your home?

Windows can be a large source of pollution. When the windows in your home let air out through small cracks, your AC or heater will be working twice as hard to keep the inside of your house at the right temperature. If they're working twice as hard, they are using twice as much energy as normal. Insulated windows that have been given the Energy Star logo will keep that air from making its way out. These windows also help to keep the outdoor temperature from getting in which reduces your need for climate control even more. There are tax credits available if you install these windows in your home, and some companies will even match that credit when they do your installation.

Appliances are another place where energy could be wasted on a regular basis in your home. Refrigerators that aren't energy efficient play a huge part in the electricity you use because they are always on. Appliances that are used often such as the stove or washer and dryer use a lot of energy for the time that they are on. All of these appliances have energy efficient versions and while these will be a high initial cost it will save money over time.

You can even change the flooring you have to help save the environment. If you have wanted to put in hardwood floors, consider using a bamboo material instead. They look like a light hardwood floor and they are eco-friendly because bamboo is an easily renewed source as opposed to trees which can take decades to grow back. They're also easier to maintain with simple soap and water, cutting back on the chemical products you'd need to use to clean.

Most people have heard of solar panels and thought it was a great idea but too expensive. The thing is, that's not true. Anyone can install solar panels themselves in their home and pay as little as $500 to do so. The solar panels will bring electricity right into your home, and if you get back more electricity than you use you can actually sell it back to the city's power company. BCIN and Tax credits are available for this installation too, even if you do it yourself.

There are simple ways a person can make their home a green home without having to install anything. You can switch out all of the light bulbs in your home with energy efficient ones. Faucets and shower heads that have a softer stream will reduce the water you use. You can also start recycling your packaging materials to cut down on your garbage. With so many options on how to go green, it might be hard to pick just one.

by Stephen Nepstein

When you are prepared to take on the job of hanging certain drywall, you'll need to be acquainted with all of the available drywall equipment that is available to you today. There are some actually handy tools on the market that can make your work increasingly simple. At the same time, you will also need some classic and undying tools in your drywall equipment repertoire in order to get the job finished in the right way.

Starting with some of the basic elements that you'll need, you are going to need drywall equipment to help you measure. So you want basic tools like varied T-squares, measuring tape and levels.

You're also going to need some cutting tools. You may need to have a jigsaw or even a band saw for some of the cutting, or you can use smaller tools if you're working on smaller roles. A simple use knife or blade will turn out to be handy for your drywall equipment as well.

Of course when it comes to drywall equipment you're going to need to be hitching and connecting the drywall itself. This implies you're going to want electric drills to help you screw. It also means you'll need special drywall compound as well as special tape.

That's the reason why you will need all of your cutting and measuring tools such as the ones noted above to help complete your job.

One of the main pieces of drywall equipment that you need to also be considering is the drywall sander. Sanders today come in all styles, shapes and sizes and you'll see that some make much more sense than others for specific sorts of roles.

For example, there are both cordless and electrical sanders. There are dustless ones which collect all of the chips and there are standard models. There are handheld models and one which extend on polls or shafts. Additionally, there are standard sand paper and block sander selections. Which you decide on for your drywall equipment will depend on your specific project needs as well as your position.

There isn't an excessive quantity of drywall equipment that you must get the task finished. But there are several necessities that you can't get by without. You'll need the drywall itself, materials to gauge, cut and hitch it and you will need drywall sanders included in your drywall equipment.

How Does A Steam Shower Work?

0
by Moe Kittaneh

Over the past few decades people have loved going to spas. One of the reasons people like going to spas is that they have steam rooms. This is the place you do most of your relaxing, while getting rid of all those toxins and the excess water we put on through the week. Before the spa, there was no other place for people to experience the steam room. However, with technology where it is today the invention of the steam shower is made possible.

This means that you can now have your own steam room, or steam shower, in your own bathroom. Now all you need is your own private masseuse and you will have a great little spa going. Maybe it is time to send the wife to massage school!

What is a steam shower?

As the name suggests, a steam shower is a built in stall that is much like the stall a regular shower is enclosed in. With a regular shower all you have is a hot and cold tap and a water spout or nozzle. With a steam shower things get a bit more intricate, which is just perfect for the handy men out there.

This shower does work like a regular shower, for those times you just want to take a regular shower. However, with a push of a button you will have a fully functional steam room on your hands. All steam showers should offer a sitting area, and depending on the size, maybe a sitting area for two.

How does a steam shower work?

Okay, so it is not that complicated and you do not need to be a techno boffin to figure this out. You want steam? Boil some water! This is exactly how the steam shower works. Somewhere behind the pretty face of the shower you will find a small steam generator. This is activated once you activate the steam program on the digital dial inside the shower.

This little box is filled with water and in a few second you have comfortably hot steam "pouring" out of the many nozzles that makes up the steam shower. That is right, there is more than one!

So if you want to enjoy another day in the steam room, do not waste your time driving to the spa. Build your very own spa in your own bathroom. A steam shower will save you money in the long run - no more need for driving and no need for that spa membership.

Bedroom Design Ideas By Cymax Stores

0
by Danielle Eph

You may think that its a difficult task to transform the look of your entire bedroom, but all you need is to infuse new bedroom furniture pieces into your sleeping space. The only challenging part you may face is deciding between all the different kinds of bedroom furniture out there. Although there are hundreds of styles to choose from regarding bedroom furniture, there are pieces out there that will compliment your design taste and improve the overall feel of your bedroom.

Although they may be expensive, pieces constructed of solid hardwood will remain classic in your bedroom and last for years to come. You may be tempted to purchase bedroom furniture manufactured of plywood or MDF because of their lower price, but that lower price comes with lower quality. Save your budget towards high-quality, sturdy hardwood pieces that wont chip or crack over the years.

How do you know which colour your furniture should be? Of course, you can always be safe and go with your favourite colour. If youre interested in a darker shade for your furniture, be aware that dark mainly suits a bigger bedroom. Why? Darker furniture has a greater presence, and visually takes up space, making it appropriate for a larger bedroom. Lighter bedroom furniture is ideal for bedrooms on the small side. It has the ability to give a room a bright, airy feel, which opens it up and makes it appear larger.

Lots of people have more than one favourite design style. With all the styles out there, like modern, country, or casual, why only have one in your bedroom? Its OK to mix up different styles in one room, as long as you dont have clashing colours or patterns.

If you cant decide what design style to have in your bedroom, why decide on just one? All you have to remember when mixing design styles is not to have clashing colours or patterns in the room " that can really throw your design off! Try a traditional wrought-iron bed with contemporary patterned bedding, or a modern nightstand with antique hardware. Make small adjustments in your bedroom and youll notice a big difference!

Bringing The Outdoors To Your Home

0
by Noel Benson

If your heart beats to the natural rhythms of the great outdoors, you can bring that feeling inside by creating a rustic design for your home or office.

Contrary to popular belief, rustic home design has many faces. It's not just using Adirondack furniture or hanging all animal-themed wall decors.

That's right; there's more than one style of rustic decor. Nonetheless, all rustic decor centers on wood tones and pieces that convey an outdoorsy feel. You might want the cowboys-and-cattle of the Old West, the canoe-and-paddles or the Upper Midwest, or the high-mountain forests of upstate New York and New England. The point here is to choose your rustic style carefully and then stick to it because rustic styles don't mix well. A Michigan kayak would look mighty strange in a living room with a cattle ranch theme.

Wood paneling is of course the best way to start your rustic home decorating. An alternative is to paint the walls in earth tones that give an appearance of wood material - beige, tans, and browns. Ivory, ebony and cream also look nice. For many rustic homes, wallpapering is no stranger. So, if you wish to have more intricate designs for your walls, use wallpaper instead.

Next, continue the rustic theme with wood accents. Wrap grapevine wreaths with berries rather than flowers. In fact, avoid flowers altogether unless they're real wildflowers arranged in a pitcher or rustic vase. Instead, use wooden bowls as decor accents and fill them with aromatic pinecones or wood shavings. A wooden bowl full of apples makes a wonderful hospitality gesture.

For furniture, choose fabrics meant to stand up to a true rustic environment, such as duck cloth or other canvas, corduroy and denim. Get rid of the wall-to-wall carpet and flooring of some kind. It could be wood flooring or wood-grain laminate if the budget requires, for a mountain-cabin style. Another option is to choose Southwestern-style floor tiles, if your decor heads west.

To bring together all the decorative elements and make your interiors more appealing, use suitable area rugs. Navajo and other kinds of Native American rugs are perfect.

Now bring in the animals. No, we're not talking mounting Bambi and his woodland pals on the walls. Instead, use animal images in fabric and nature-themed artwork for paintings and photos. Audubon bird prints or Ansel Adams reproductions work wonderfully depending on the style.

The final touches in rustic decor focus on vintage accents and collectibles.

An essential item to have are quilts. Smaller quilts make nice coverings and cushions for chairs and sofas, while the bigger ones can be wall hangings, similar to a beautifully braided area rug.

Take your cue in decorating from the things you use in your outdoor activities. Highlight a specific idea, say cattle and ranch lifestyle and use objects that depict it. Mixing and matching is also okay as long as you don't transform your home into a warehouse-like place. Decorate moderately.

You may be inside the house or outside of it, but as an outdoor person, you will never be lacking of the surroundings you so love.

Have Your Property Renovated And Watch Its Worth Increase Overnight

0
by Carlo Stevens

An overall renovation exercise is the surest way to attract potential buyers towards your property. Any amount of time spent in renovation doesn't go in vain, as affluent buyers always make a beeline for a property that looks new and well-furnished.

Property renovations are usually undertaken on the entire structure and look of the property and this also includes the electrical cabling, furnishings and even the colour schemes. The whole idea of renovation is to improve the house such that both its utility and comfort level rises. A 50% raise in property value is possible through an extensive renovation.

The most important part of a renovation is making the appearance of the property attractive enough. If the refurbished interiors wear a modern look, then buyers who are generally conscious of the newest trends in interior design would be more inclined towards making a purchase.

Professional consultation of an experienced interior design specialist is a must for better renovation. If partial renovation is what you are targeting, then the interior designer can recommend which sections of your house can be strategically redesigned to attract potential buyers.

For instance, an interior design expert knows how to generate good results by adding a few architectural details at minimal cost. Things like floor patterns, wall colours etc can give you a sense of luminous and spacious interiors. Moreover, when it comes to improvements to be made in the overall structure and urgent need for strength and support of the foundation, no one can give proper advice to the owner better than an interior designer does. Being widely experienced, he can suggest you the right tactic, taking your spending capacity and needs into account.

Another factor that justifies engaging an interior design specialist for renovation is the opportunity to make a substantial saving on the renovation materials. They know where to buy these materials and tools from the market at reduced prices. They can also inform you how much time would be needed for the whole restoration project to finish.

It is also advisable to seek advice of a property broker who can tell you about the current trends in the real estate market with reference to the choices and preferences of buyers. After all, the entire aim of the renovation is to satisfy them to be able to fetch a higher price for the property.
