On Hold Music – Something is Better Than Nothing, Provided

0

Something is sometimes better than nothing, but not always. Take the case of free hold music, or any kind of free onhold messaging your company or organization might be considering. Sure, its fair to say that, in theory, its far better to have something playing for your callers who are on hold " some kind of music, or verbal message, or combination of the two. Almost anything but dead silence. No question. Statistics and common sense back this up.

Its easy to imagine exceptions to this generality, however. For example, if the quality of your audio is bad it can project an unprofessional, even fly-by-night image. As organizations with unprofessional, low-quality onhold messaging or music become more rare, the detrimental imaging suffered by those who have not yet modernized their callers onhold experience becomes potentially that much greater. I know that when I find myself on hold nowadays and subjected to bad audio, and/or cheesy music, and/or poorly written announcements, the experience seems anachronistic, and, even more comical than it used to twenty or thirty years ago! (Search for worst hold music ever at YouTube for a humorous response to one particularly egregious example of cheesy hold music.)

True, you might save a few bucks on the front end by doing your on hold music or message on the cheap, but as with all of your other marketing and imaging tools, you get what you pay for. Especially in an economy like this one, when it comes to your ability to compete and survive, your image really is everything, and your image is potentially threatened by any weak links in the chain. Bottom line, if you do decide to find some source of free music to play on hold, or to write and produce your own on hold messages, you had better be prepared to put the time, effort, and energy into the research and education necessary to ensure that you are not shooting yourself in the foot.

A better, more cost-effective option might be to avail yourself of a service who specializes in on hold music and messaging and who has the expertise and experience to deal with technical and equipment issues, writing and production, and regularly scheduled refreshing and updating of your messages, as well as covering all legal and copyright infringement bases.

Don't underestimate the importance of quality hold music and messaging. It could be the difference between sales and just leads.

On hold music can play a major role in lead conversion. Contact the professionals at HoldTimeStudios.com today to increase your marketing ROI.

The Perfect Wedding Gift Waterford Crystals

0
by Yvonne W. Decker

I recently found myself in a sticky situation. I was invited to my supervisors wedding. Like that wasn't stressful enough I had the daunting task of trying to find a suitable gift for my boss. I didn't know much about her personal life so I decided to not get her something that might have the slightest chance of causing a scene. No time for inside jokes. I only knew her professionally so I decided to get her something classy and elegant. Something to wow her at the wedding, who knows something she'll love so much she might throw a promotion or two in my direction. So I hit the internet with not much of a clue as to what classy gift I could give her. I somehow stumbled upon the little tidbit of interesting information. Did you know that President Ronald Reagan's infamous jelly bean jar was a Waterford Crystal? For some reason that stuck with me and I did some more research on the delicate treasure.

Waterford Crystals were first made during the Iron Age in Waterford County Waterford Ireland. The crystals still remain as one of the most important additions to the glass making industry. The company was started by the Penrose brothers William and George in 1783. Their crystals quickly became a worldwide sensation with their expertly designed translucent look.

Unfortunately, the manufacturing business could not raise enough capital to keep up with the terribly excessive taxation of those times, and it would have to be well about another century before the totally defunct enterprise was resurrected by a Czech immigrant, Charles Bacik, in 1947. He and a partner had their new factory set up less than two miles from the original one, probably in order to capitalize on the still-resonant reputation of Waterford crystals, which reverberate down to this day.

A survey was conducted back in 2000 to see just how popular Waterford Crystals are. 30,000 people selected Waterford Crystals as one of the top brands associated with wealth and fortune. Waterford Crystals beat out other brands such as Rolls Royce Bentley, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, Bose, Eastman Kodak, and Heinz Tomato Ketchup. Waterford Crystals are so popular they were chosen to create the crystal balls that are dropped each year at Times Square for New Years Eve. The giant orb weighs half a ton and consists of 504 miniature balls which are specifically designed to withstand the extreme weather during the winter.

Waterford Crystals may have begun as a glass making company, but they expanded into other luxurious collectibles, like porcelain, flatware, and jewelry. Starting out with only about 60 workers they now employ thousands of people worldwide. Much like the 1940s the company went on the market looking for a potential buyer and is not currently owned by KPS Capital Partners, LP. It doesn't matter who is behind the Waterford Crystal reigns the company has not and will not change. They will continue to make elegant products which can be enjoyed by anyone of any generation. Whether its in a castle or on my supervisors mantle piece these products are here to stay.

The History Of Waterford Crystals

Waterford Crystals were first made during the Iron Age in Waterford County Waterford Ireland. The crystals still remain as one of the most important additions to the glass making industry.

With the company back on track manufacturing crystals they continued to gain popularity till this very day. In 2000 a survey was conducted by Total Research Corporation of Princeton, New Jersey to see just how Waterford Crystals rank among top luxury brands turns out that Waterford Crystal is preferred more than Rolls Royce Bentley, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, Bose, Eastman Kodak, and Heinz Tomato Ketchup by 30,000 people. They are so popular in fact that they are the company who actually produces the balls that are dropped each year during the New Years Eve celebration which takes place in Times Square. The giant orb is specifically made to withstand extreme weather conditions such as low temperature, snow, and harsh blowing wind.

From its storied beginnings, Waterford Crystal has since expanded into other fine collectibles like porcelain, jewelry, and flatware, bringing its attention to detail and devotion to luxury to other upscale products. From an initial workforce of 50 to 70 souls, Waterford Crystal grew to employ well over a thousand worldwide. Unfortunately, in an echo of company history, the company spent the first half of 2009 looking for a buyer of its distressed operations and diverse assets. It is now currently owned by KPS Capital Partners, LP. But no matter who takes ultimate receivership of the legendary Waterford name, Waterford crystals endure as beloved heirlooms from generation to generation, gracing homes from Windsor Castle to my supervisor's -- and that's the truest ownership of all, a Waterford masterpiece.

Rug Cleaning Made Easy

0
by Harold C. Cain.

One of the best accessories a person can add to their house or living area is a rug. A rug can instantly dress up and decorate any room. But owning a rug merits its own set of responsibilities such as rug cleaning. Without proper rug maintenance a rug can be permanently stained and/or irreparably damaged. To prevent such extreme cases it is best to regularly call professional rug cleaners. But if you cant afford such a service then it is best to clean your own rug. It may seem like a daunting task but following these steps youll have a clean rug in no time.

In many cultures in which hand woven rugs are widely used it is very common for people to remove their shoes before stepping on a rug. To prolong the life of your rug you should adopt and enforce this practice as well. Certain types of shoes like heels, boots, or anything with cleans can severely damage a rug, as well as drag in unwanted dirt from outside.

Cleaning a rug can take a while so it is best to make sure your rug needs cleaning in the first place. There are 2 ways to test your rug for dirt. You can pick up one of the corners of your rug, and kick the back of it. Carefully watch and see if a cloud of dirty wafts out. If so then you should clean the rug. Another way is to rub your hand across the rug. If your hand is covered in dirt and dust after rubbing the carpet then you should also clean your rug.

If you decide to clean your rug yourself first remove it from the room and place it outside or in a well ventilated area. Sweep and mop up the floor to remove any excess dust and dirt left behind by the rug. Now to begin rug cleaning, vacuum both sides carefully. Take your time and move carefully across the rug. You dont want to pull any lose threads off. Then shampoo the rug with a mixture of cool water and rug shampoo. If you dont have any rug shampoo available a mild soap will work as well. Before scrubbing make sure you hang up the rug on a close line of some sort. Test a small corner of the rug first to see if your soap will cause the color to run. If it does switch to a different soap or buy rug shampoo. Using a long hair brush with soft bristles scrub the rug. Make sure you follow the weave with your motion. Dont scrub against the grain as it will pull threads out. Then rinse the rug with a hose or running water. If you dont have a hose available continually pour water over the rug. Remove any excess water and lay the rug flat to dry. Turn it over to thoroughly dry both sides. After the rug is dry carefully vacuum it to make it soft again.

With proper care you can make your rug last a long time. It will be looking its best and will surely impress everyone. But if you feel you dont have the time or the means to clean your own rug it is best to call in the professionals.
