Day Rooms

Day rooms aren't in many homes, but some people do have them, or they might be called a sunroom. Normally these rooms seem to attract a bunch of clutter and become overcrowded with the junk you don't want to place in another part of the house. Or you may have just let this room sit and have no decoration in it for a bit. Why not add some color into that day room today and make it a unique place for you and your family to relax in.

Begin your make over by adding color. Because of the time period that these rooms became popular most of their walls are covered with wooden paneling. Strip this off or simply paint over it. Consider a Dutch theme for this type of room. The light blue, bright red and green, and sunny yellow will perk up your space. These colors will provide easy access to accessories that will blend well. They will also reflect light making the room appear larger. Colorful accessories should also be used.

Don't add a lot of accessories into the day room though since most of them are small all that will accomplish is a crowded cramped up area. Adding in a few pictures of tulips is a great way to bring a bit more color to the room. Putting up light curtains that will let the sun in will also help to brighten up the room nicely.

Area rugs are another dual purpose accessory. Unfortunately anyone stylish enough to build a day room was also stylish enough to install stone flooring. I say unfortunately because these create a very cold environment. An area rug allows you to cover a small space in the room keeping the natural appearance of the stone floor, but warming the room at the same time. An area rug also protects your furniture. My mother often used our day room as a breakfast nook and whenever she would have the good table and chairs in the room they sat directly on the rug so that the stone floor would not cause the wood to splinter.

Day rooms or sun rooms will add something special to your home. If you want to make it a little more peaceful where you can sit and relax or where your kids can play, give the room a nice little make over. The Dutch theme is a very colorful way to brighten up the room, and make it very comfortable for anyone who enters it.

Go On A Vacation…In Your Sunroom

How about some sun, warm water and peace and quiet? Sounds like a great vacation doesn't it? Well wouldn't it be great to take a vacation like this every day? Did you know that you could turn your sunroom into a permanent vacation for about the same cost as a single family vacation? Fabulous color, shining sun, a hot tub and beach themed furniture partner with whimsical accessories to make your sunroom your very own tropical vacation.

Select a variety of bright colors such as teal, hot pink and yellow. Paint these in alternating stripes on the smallest wall of your sunroom and use one of the colors to paint any other wall space in the room. If these colors seem too bright for your liking you could choose to paint a mural of a beach scene on the largest wall and use a muted tone of blue on the opposite walls. Either of these color schemes will look fantastic and reflect the beautiful sunlight in your sunroom.

Together with the hot tub, place furniture representing the beach, such as lounge chair and other pieces made of natural materials. Simple items will create the look. Anyway, the beach life is all about nature and not so much about material things, so you don't need to go overboard with the decorations.

You will not go wrong with plants, especially the big, leafy ones. Throw in some pool toys either as real decors or paintings. A makeshift surfboard and a boat replica will also make great decorative pieces.

To polish the theme, decorate with area rugs. Select a color that goes with the rest of the sunroom. If you choose the natural colors of blue and green, purchase area rugs of a similar tone. If the sunroom is in bright shades, the same color for the rugs will make the look more coordinated. If there's some space to spare another area rug, have a sand-colored rug for the beautiful fine-sand-in-the-beach look.

A tropical vacation is just the thing to relax after a hard day. Give yourself the luxury of this vacation every day by implementing a tropical vacation theme in your sunroom. Soak in the sun without worrying about the effect it may have on your skin or pocket book. Follow these simple steps to turn your sunroom into a tropical getaway. You will never have to leave home for a vacation again.

A Home Vacation Treat Right In Your Sunroom

Going on a vacation is one thing that all of us look forward to. We plot our schedules and plan with zest. A vacation can sometimes be hard on our pockets but it's all worth it, isn't it? Wouldn't it be swell if we could go on vacations whenever we want to? Believe it or not, your sunroom can be your own vacation retreat where you can go anytime you want without beating hard on your savings. Bright colors, a hot tub, tropical-inspired furniture and complementing accents will transform your sunroom into an exclusive beach, a haven for your family and friends.

Choose colors like yellows, pinks, blues and greens. They speak clearly of a beach setting. Paint the walls and if you like, make a mural of a beach scene complete with the sea, waves, sand, blue sky, trees and boats.

Together with the hot tub, place furniture representing the beach, such as lounge chair and other pieces made of natural materials. Simple items will create the look. Anyway, the beach life is all about nature and not so much about material things, so you don't need to go overboard with the decorations.

Elaborate accessories will overshadow your new sunroom's design. When picking out accessories think natural and amusing. Place some potted plants around the sunroom. Banana trees and other large leafy plants will accentuate the tropical vacation feel of your sunroom. Really emphasize your love of fun in the sun by adding blow up pool toys to the wall as art. If you did not use the mural, consider mounting a surf board or knee board as wall art as well. To save money find a used or damaged board then cover it in pictures and lacquer over to give the grouping a more put together look.

Finally, complete the look with area rugs in bright and/or light colors. Suit the color scheme and add in a rug in sand color, especially near the hot tub for a more dramatic effect. There are also rugs with a beach theme, perfect for the tropical design of the sunroom.

Who says vacations only happen a few weeks in the summer? It can be everyday in the familiar comforts of home. Holding parties and family time in the sunroom can further highlight this personal vacation space. Reward yourself with a treat regardless of the season and occasion. You and your family can have a grand time without spending a lot. Your very own home vacation minus the bore is an indulgence perfect for the family.
